Caroline Wozniacki

Already a star at age 20, she is practically the role model for many
kids aspiring to be tennis players for a career. Caroline Wozniacki is a
Danish tennis player born on 11th July 1990 and recently ranked number
two in the world on the WTA. She won 10 WTA titles in singles as well as
the runners up in the US Open of 2009.
Being a committed player in tennis, Caroline has victory in several
junior tournaments which include the Wimbledon Girls’ Single Tournament
in 2006 and the Orange Bowl tennis Championship of 2005.

In 2006, after losing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, a Russian, she
reached her first quarter final in WTA in February after beating Ashley
Harkleroad and Kristina Brandi in the first two rounds before she lost
to Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden in the third round. Later in 2006, she
received a wildcard to Wimbledon Championship where she lost in the
first qualifying round to Miho Saeki. She however went on to winning the
singles tournament.
In August, Caroline Wozniacki reached quarter finals of WTA at Nordea
Nordic Light Open held in Stockholm. She was able to defeat Eleni
Daniilidou and Iveta Benesova (top hundred players) but fell to Jie
Zheng. She was seeded the 2nd in that year’s major tournament of US Open
in 2006 for Girls’ Singles when she won the first round against
Alexandra Panova on September 3 but got disqualified for verbal abuse to
an umpire in the 2nd set. In October 29, Caroline Wozniacki won her 1st
seniors title after grabbing $25,000 ITF.
She was later set to face the famous Venus William in 27th November, a
tournament to be held in Copenhagen which was cancelled by Venus five
days prior due to an injury. They later faced each other on February
20th at Memphis in Tier III WTA where Venus won. Caroline Wozniacki was
named the Ambassador of Danish Junior Tennis on 30th November by Culture
Ministry in Denmark.

The year 2007 started hot for Caroline Wozniacki where she played in
Hong Kong exhibition tournament in January. This was the Watsons Water
Champions Challenge. She won the single titles on 4th February in
Ortisei-Italy (ITF $75,000) where she beat Alberta Brianti. She won the
same title in Las Vegas on March 4th where she beat Akiko Morigami. She
was the first Danish female to reach WTA semifinals in October 2007
after Tine Scheuer of 1986. She however lost to Venus Williams.
Caroline Wozniacki has won and lost over the years, breaking records and
moving extra miles which have encouraged most tennis players through
2009 to date. She started the year 2010 at the Hong Kong exhibition
tournament in which she loss 2 singles but later won 2 mixed doubles
partnering with Stefan Edberg. Caroline Wozniacki lost to Li Na in
Sydney leading her to be seeded fourth at Australia Open. She yet again
was defeated by Li Na this time in the 4th round.
Caroline Wozniacki is a hardworking Danish player who in spite of her
injuries and losses never losses hope to reach her high points. She is
role model to many including those who have gone before her.
